Is it just me, or does a "seppuku dagger" seem like a bad Valentine's Day present to anyone else?
I ask because it's in the Highlander catalog ad this month, under the tag line "Honor your love with a Highlander dagger." And although I can appreciate the romance of cold steel, I don't think a seppuku dagger would carry the desired message.
In other news, I'm irrationally feeling abandoned by my mom. Last night she all but hung up on me so she could talk to my brother, and tonight she would barely talk to me because she wanted me to write my stupid paper. She had good reasons for cutting both calls short, but she didn't make any offer to talk to me later, or to say she hoped I could make it home this weekend like I planned too. After the way she acted all Christmas break, I'm starting to wonder if something's wrong. And I know I'm just being irrationally emotional, but still.

Date: 2006-02-09 07:56 am (UTC)Your mom probably ditched you for your brother because you seem to be doing ok at the moment, while she's probably blaming herself for some mom-only-knows-why reason for his breakup and thinks she has to do the mom thing for him at the moment. I got the impression (i could be way wrong of course) that he didn't communicate with your parents a lot while he was married and your mom is eager to take advantage of his newfound availability. If it bothers you, you could try asking why she was in such a hurry the other night; that might make her realize she's hurt your feelings without you having to say so.
if i'm full of crap feel fee to ignore me, of course :)

Date: 2006-02-09 02:19 pm (UTC)I don't feel bad when my mom hangs up quick because I call during prime time :) and most of the time it's just to hear her voice, not really talk about anything. plus...we're just not at that stage of mom/daughter (Glimore Girls) friendship yet.
