May. 7th, 2010 03:45 pmThe problem with my habit of hunting for eggless baked goods in vegan cookbooks is I miss things that need dairy products. Things like sugar cream pie, which is pretty much exactly what the name implies. It is surprisingly tasty- and my next experiment will involve adding pecans and chocolate chips to see if I get kind of a derby pie like object.
We've been referring to it as no-egg chess pie, so as not to scare people, but I'm not sure because I haven't had chess pie in so long. It looks kind of like it.

Feb. 21st, 2009 09:03 pmI made a king cake tonight. It actually turned out really well-I finally got something yeasty to rise properly! The cinnamon filling melted out the edges a little bit, but it tasted good.
I really feel like I've accomplished something. Then again, my old recipe (which involves a can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls) is less work and tastes closer to what I remember-might be the preservatives.

Sep. 14th, 2008 12:59 amI made Vegan Time-Warp lemon squares this afternoon. I don't know why they're Time-warp, but they are super-tasty. A little strange-I noticed a weird kind of after-taste, which I think is from the flour-but Mom says all lemon squares taste like that. Other than that, though, the filling is really tasty. I ate almost half a pan by myself.
