Look, it makes as much sense as anything else. It's based, of course, on the well known phenomenon of Sciuridae mergere. If two squirrels collide at high speed, you get a rabbit.
Rabbits, of course, are a well-known Catholic symbol for the ineffability of God.
(This is where I have trouble with my metaphor. Does my life end if I buy a rabbit, or is my life a symbolic quest to find another like myself, and collide into him, creating a bewildered something which is similar but completely different? Or is this one of those ineffable things?)
