Apr. 14th, 2008 06:05 pmI spent the morning baby-sitting middle-schoolers. I'm signed up for 3 more days of it. Mom's friend's daughter teaches at the school, and they were desperate for people to help proctor the TCAP (standardized) tests. I did not take into account that being there at 7 would necessitate getting up around 5.
I have come to the conclusion that I could probably teach, if I had too. But that I probably wouldn't want to, since I would be lousy with kids who didn't want to learn. Which, is most middle schoolers, even the geeky ones, if I remember correctly. These kids were fine, though. Their teacher had them minding under penalty of death. I thought it was a bit harsh, but it wasn't any of my business.
Also, my boombox ate my Meredith Brooks tape. I can't wait until they invent some way of recording music that doesn't rely on magnetic tapes like that. Maybe something like a record? But smaller, and something that wouldn't scratch as easily. That would be awesome.
